Problem
Grocery shopping can be tedious and time-consuming — especially when in an unfamiliar grocery store where one does not know where certain items are located.
Solution
The List & Found app allows users to create and collaborate on grocery shopping lists. Features allow users to see where items are located, which enables them to have a more efficient grocery shopping experience.
Design Process
Research & Analysis
User Interview Affinity Diagram
We conducted 5 interviews about people’s grocery shopping experience both in grocery stores they are familiar with and unfamiliar with.
User Persona
User Journey Map
Based on our research data, we created a user journey map to help us better understand the pain points users will run into through out the shopping experience in an unfamiliar grocery store.
Definition & Ideation
Competitor Analysis
The team also did research on other shopping list apps and conducted a Competitor Analysis. This helped us understand our competitors’ strengths and weaknesses in comparison to our own and find a gap in the market.

User & Grocery Store – Most Impactful Features
We developed a Prioritization Matrix for users and grocery store, which led to creating a Venn diagram to show where user needs and grocery store needs intersect. Then we organized User Flow by main features (list making, grocery finder, recipes), and put the ones are mutually beneficial for both parties in the center.
Prototyping & Iteration
Low-Fidelity Prototype
User Testing Insights
We conducted 6 user tests on 5 tasks: Sign up; Find a grocery store nearby; Create a shopping list; Find a greek salad recipe and add it to “beach list; And invite a friend to this app via message app. We achieved 97% success rate on user tests and received many insights on the areas we can improve:
Make “invite friends” feature more intuitive
Start shopping feature from location screen
Ease of list naming function

Taylor now can see the location info of each item on her list, and she can sort
the list by her preferred ways to make her shopping experience more efficient.
Add items from recipes to a shopping list
List & Found provides a variety of recipes shopping lists for users to easily add to their shopping list.
